Why Fair Trade Coffee

Fair Trade Raises Incomes and Living standards for Small Coffee Farmers while helping to protect the environment from harmful harvesting processes.

Fair Trade does not provide aid or charity, but instead promotes self-reliance and equality for farmers who are disadvantaged under present trading conditions.

Fair Trade Practices Include:

  • Paying Farming Families a fair price for their harvests, providing them with a decent wage
  • Establishing Direct, Long Term trading relationships between buyers and farmers, fostering sustainability
  • Fair Trade inspectors confirm that the money actually reaches these family farmers in each country of origin and also monitor issues such as labour conditions, women's participation and democratic representation
